THERE is currently tension in Adamawa community as gunmen abducted the District Head of MaFarang in Adamawa State, Ardo Mustapha, hours after he assumed duty in the state.

The kidnap of the royal father, who is the Sarkin Noman Adamawa (King of Farming), came hours after the new Commissioner of Police in the state, Aliyu Adamu, assumed office.

Mustapha’s abduction occurred few hours after he returned to the state from Abuja Monday night.

Reports indicated that daredevil gunmen struck the palace of the monarch on Monday around midnight and took him away after subduing the palace guards who also worked as local vigilantes.

A resident who does not want his name in print said that the monarch was abducted despite the presence of the palace guards who were overwhelmed by the better equipped marauders.

The resident explained that the abduction of the monarch had caused panic among indigenes of the area.

“The whole town is gripped with tension as gunshots rent the air. The monarch was abducted in the night around 12 midnight on Monday despite the presence of the palace guards,” he said.

Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Suleiman Nguroje, said the police were on the trail of the abductors of the royal father.
