TROOPS of the Nigerian Army Operation Thunder Strike have neutralised two bandits along Sabon Iche-Kagarko Road, Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Monday night.
The state Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Mr. Samuel Aruwan, who confirmed the incident on Tuesday, said the troops laid an ambush along the route following intelligence on the bandits’ movement in the area.
Aruwan explained that while the bandits were preparing to block the road for an operation, they (bandits) “entered the killing zone and the troops opened fire. The bandits returned fire as they beat a hasty retreat.”
He, however, noted that after the dust settled, two lifeless bodies of the bandits were retrieved by the troops, while other suspects, who sustained gunshot wounds, escaped into the bush.
The commissioner said there was no casualty on the part of the troops during the bloody encounter.
