FORMER President, Olusegun Obasanjo, and the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, have expressed their condolences over the death of former Minister of state for Finance and Commerce and Industry, Senator Jubril Martins-Kuye

While Obasanjo described the demise of the ex-minister as a huge loss, Tinubu said Martins-Kuye was an elder statesman and consummate professional.

Obasanjo in a condolence letter on Monday, addressed to one of the children of the deceased, Bolaji Martins-Kuye, dated Sunday, January17, 2021, described him as a detribalised Nigerian that had friends from all over the country.

He said, “This, no doubt, is a moment of great grief for you and the entire family, but it is also clear that the deep sense of loss over the demise of your father is shared by many like me. I hasten therefore to address this letter to commiserate with you all over this painful bereavement.

“He (Martins-Kuye) was a Distinguished Senator, a committed nationalist and an effective representative of his people. His thoughts, utterances and deeds were completely devoid of political partisanship.”

In a condolence message by his Media Office, Asiwaju Tinubu stated, “We were Senators together in the 1992 Senate. Those were difficult days for the legislative branch in Nigeria but Senator Martins-Kuye stood out among his peers. I can attest to his vision, prudence, and dedication to the unity and development of this country.”
