Gunmen have killed a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) councillorship candidate in the March 6 council poll in Delta, Mr Elliot Ofa.
The gunmen abducted two others with him.
It was however unclear if the killing was politically motivated following allegations of imposition of candidates within the PDP.
The incident, it was learnt, occurred along the Jesse/Oben road, near the boundary between Delta and Edo States.
It was learnt the deceased and two abducted were returning from the Office of the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission, DSIEC, Asaba when the gunmen ambushed, shot and killed the victim.
The victim was the immediate past Supervisory Councillor on Environment of Ethiope-West Local Government Council.
Delta Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya confirmed the incident.
She said: ”They said it happened in Edo State, not Delta State.”
