Barely one week after vigilante members in Ovwian community in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State reportedly shot dead a young lady in the community, tension heightened in the same area on Sunday as some gunmen killed two members of the community vigilante.
The motives behind the shooting of the two vigilantes were still sketchy as of the time of filing this report.
Sources said the remains of the deceased vigilantes had been deposited in a morgue in the area by the police.
The Ovwian/Aladja Divisional Police Officer, CSP Mohammed Mu’Azu. declined comments on the matter.
“I have already communicated to the state command. I don’t speak on such issues,” he told newsmen.
When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, confirmed the report in a telephone chat with journalists in Warri saying, “It’s true,” without giving details.
