Major roads in Ogun State were blocked on Monday by #EndSARS protesters demonstrating against police brutality and extrajudicial killings in the country.
The development subjected both residents and travellers to serious hardship as they were stranded for hours on the roads.
Some of the areas affected include: the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway at the Mowe axis, Sagamu interchange, Presidential Boulevard, Oke-Mosan, Panseke, Camp-Osiele, Owode-Yewa, Ilaro road, Ado-Odo road, Sango and Papalanto roads all in the state.
Thousands of protesters in Mowe, Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of the state, barricaded the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in solidarity with their colleagues nationwide.
Armed with placards with various inscriptions, such as ”We demand good governance’, ‘#EndSARS, #EndSWAT’, among others.
Addressing journalists during the protest, one of the leaders of the youths, Kazeem Lukman, urged the government to also look at the state of infrastructure in the country aside police reforms.
He said, “We demand government intervention on our roads, we want infrastructural development, respect for fundamental human rights and rule of law.”
